Vertical Extension and Renovation of a Residential Complex – Rue de l’Athénée, Geneva

Located at the junction of Rue de l’Athénée, Rue du Conseil-Général and Rue des Bains in Geneva, this major project involves the transformation of a large U-shaped residential complex occupying an entire urban block.

The proposal includes the vertical extension of the five existing buildings through the addition of one to two new storeys, creating 28 new apartments while enhancing the value of the existing building stock. At the same time, all façades are being comprehensively refurbished to improve the complex’s energy performance and provide it with a renewed architectural identity.

The intervention has been carefully designed to respect the proportions of the existing buildings and their integration within Geneva’s urban fabric. The new upper levels adopt a contemporary architectural language while maintaining a harmonious relationship with the original construction.

Planning permission has been granted and construction is scheduled to begin shortly.
